The 6th Conference on Language Teaching and Learning (LTAL-2024)

On January 13, 2024, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade successfully organized its 6th Conference on Language Teaching and Learning under the theme “Cultural Factors in Foreign Language Teaching in the Digital Era.” The conference took place in Hall C and 15 parallel session rooms, attracting significant participation.

Dr. Trần Tín Nghị, Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages and Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the critical role of human and cultural factors in shaping foreign language teaching methodologies in the digital age.

The event also welcomed distinguished guests from sponsoring organizations, including Ms. Nguyễn Phạm Mai Trâm, Senior Learning Consultant at National Geographic Learning, and Mr. Trần Trọng Minh, Deputy General Director of CDIMEX.

The conference featured two keynote presentations: one by Dr. Huỳnh Văn Tài on “Language, Culture, and Translation,” and another by Mr. Andy Duenas (M.A.) on “Approaches to Prepare Students for Independent Practice.” In addition, more than 50 presentations by lecturers and students were delivered, offering diverse and insightful perspectives on foreign language teaching and learning.

Furthermore, presentations in the parallel sessions of LTAL 2024 provided a comprehensive overview of recent developments in language education. These reports addressed emerging trends in pedagogy, language policy, the impact of technology on language learning, intercultural communication, and various other topics. Each presentation reflected methodological and thematic diversity, ranging from theoretical research to practical applications, and proposed innovative solutions and future directions for language teaching and learning in the digital era.

The conference concluded with a wealth of valuable knowledge shared, enabling students to engage with advanced research and supporting their academic studies and thesis work. This event not only marked a significant milestone in the academic activities of  Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, but also contributed to shaping the future of foreign language education in Vietnam in the digital age.
