I. GENERAL INTRODUCTION

Overview of the Faculty of Foreign Languages

            The Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade was officially established on June 27, 2016, based on its predecessor, the Foreign Languages Center – Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry, which was founded on May 15, 2010. The establishment of the Faculty aims to meet the growing demand for foreign language learning and to enhance students’ language proficiency in the context of increasing international integration.

            Currently, the Faculty of Foreign Languages has more than 51 full-time lecturers and approximately 30 visiting lecturers, responsible for teaching two main foreign languages – English and Chinese – to over 8,000 students each semester.

            The Faculty continuously strives to improve training quality through the innovation of teaching methodologies, the promotion of scientific research, and the investment in modern language teaching facilities. With a sustainable development orientation, the Faculty is committed to providing a dynamic and professional learning environment that enables students to continuously enhance their foreign language proficiency and professional skills.

II. FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT

            With nearly 40 years of formation and development, originating from a Foreign Languages Department directly under the University, the Faculty of Foreign Languages has continuously innovated and expanded, making significant contributions to the overall development of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade. Today, the Faculty is one of the University’s key academic units, offering training programs that are systematically designed, modern, and closely aligned with the practical demands of the labor market. The curriculum places particular emphasis on developing practical language skills, communicative competence, and career orientation for students after graduation.

            The Faculty’s training programs include courses in language skills, linguistic theory, culture and literature, and specialized knowledge. In addition, students have opportunities to undertake internships at enterprises, educational institutions, and organizations both domestically and internationally, thereby enhancing their professional competence and career skills.

            At present, the Faculty of Foreign Languages offers two undergraduate programs:

·       English Linguistics

·       Chinese Linguistics

III. STUDENT SUPPORT ACTIVITIES

            Students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages have opportunities to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including cultural and artistic events, sports activities, and academic competitions. These activities contribute to the holistic development of students in terms of knowledge, skills, and personal growth.

            In addition, the faculty’s staff are always available to support students in their studies, provide learning resources, and assist with administrative procedures. They also actively listen to students’ feedback and needs in order to build a supportive and effective learning environment.
