University English Challenge 2025 Finals: An Academic Arena Fostering Passion for English at HUIT

On the morning of December 21, 2025, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) successfully hosted the finals of the "University English Challenge 2025." The event was characterized by a vibrant atmosphere, youthful energy, and a high level of academic engagement.

The competition was designed to provide a constructive and enriching academic environment for students, enabling them to comprehensively refine their listening, speaking, reflex, presentation, and critical thinking skills in English. Furthermore, it served as an initiative to identify and honor students who demonstrate exceptional language proficiency and a genuine passion for the English language.

The final round consisted of two primary segments:

• Round 1 – Talent Show: The event commenced with creative performances, utilizing English as a medium for artistic expression, including short drama, vocal performances, theatrical acts, and storytelling. Each performance not only showcased linguistic competence but also highlighted the participants' individual creativity, team synergy, and diligent preparation.
• Round 2 – Debate Challenge: This segment rigorously tested critical thinking and argumentation skills in English. Teams were randomly assigned current affairs topics concerning education, culture, society, and technology. The sharp arguments, intense debates, and confident delivery from the contestants created a professional academic environment that captivated the audience.

Following a fair and rigorous evaluation, the Jury awarded one First Prize, one Second Prize, two Third Prizes, and two Consolation Prizes to the top-performing teams. The resounding applause throughout the hall served as a testament to the appreciation for the participants' efforts and the spirit of academic excellence promoted by the competition.

The "University English Challenge 2025" concluded on a high note, leaving a lasting impression on both faculty and students. The competition not only contributed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive English-learning environment but also reaffirmed the university’s student-centered training philosophy, which prioritizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
