DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Strategic Period 2016 – 2021 (Vision to 2026)

1. Vision

  • Diversification: Diversify training types and educational programs.
  • Technological Integration: Progressively apply information technology in teaching to enhance quality, aiming for standards comparable to prestigious domestic and regional institutions.
  • Research & Development: Promote scientific research in linguistics, culture, theory, and foreign language teaching methods.
  • Accreditation: Develop and refine undergraduate programs to achieve accreditation from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and international organizations by 2023.

2. Mission

  • Human Resource Training: Educate and foster human resources with strong language proficiency, professional skills, and life skills.
  • Learner Autonomy: Cultivate self-study and research capabilities in learners to meet increasing social demands in the context of international integration.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure foreign language outcome standards for students and lecturers at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT).

3. Development Strategy

  • Education & Research: Improve the quality and efficiency of training and scientific research while strengthening international cooperation.
  • Personnel Development: Build a faculty and management team sufficient in quantity, high in quality, and balanced in structure.
  • Multifunctional Growth: Evolve the Faculty into a multifunctional training unit adaptable to modern requirements, aiming to become a specialized entity for foreign language testing.
  • Graduate Education: Finalize undergraduate programs and begin implementing postgraduate (Master’s) training from 2025, increase the educational quality to meet the social need.

Strategic Period 2021 – 2026 (Vision to 2030)

1. Vision

  • Regional Standards: Continue diversifying training programs and enhancing IT applications to reach the quality of prestigious regional institutions.
  • Applied Research: Strengthen research tied directly to teaching in linguistics, culture, and methodology.
  • Extended Accreditation: Refine undergraduate programs to meet MOET and international accreditation standards by 2028.

2. Mission

  • Competency & Adaptation: Train human resources with solid language skills, professional expertise, and high adaptability.
  • Lifelong Learning: Instill a spirit of lifelong learning and research capacity in students.
  • Institutional Support: Ensure the university’s language outcome standards are met to support integration and development.

3. Development Strategy

  • Faculty Research: Ensure 100% of lecturers participate in and complete their prescribed scientific research quotas.
  • International Publication: Aim for at least 20% of lecturers to publish scientific articles in international journals annually.
  • Qualification Targets: By 2025, ensure 100% of lecturers hold at least a Master’s degree, with a minimum of 25% reaching Doctoral (PhD) level.
  • Innovation & CDIO: Continue refining curricula according to the CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) framework and innovatively update teaching methods.
  • Digital Communication: Enhance the effectiveness of the Faculty website (www.knn.huit.edu.vn) for communication and alumni networking.
  • Postgraduate Expansion: Formally launch the Master’s degree program in English Linguistics in 2025.
